Earthworks and volume calculations

Earthworks volume calculation measures how much soil must be cut or filled by comparing surveyed surfaces. YAZ Development surveys ground surfaces with GNSS and total stations and calculates cut and fill volumes for sites in Riyadh and across Saudi Arabia.

When you need it

  • Cut and fill estimates before grading
  • Progress volumes during earthworks
  • Stockpile measurement
  • Final volumes for agreement between parties

How volumes are calculated

  1. Survey the existing ground
  2. Build a terrain surface
  3. Compare with design or later survey
  4. Report cut, fill and net volumes

What you receive

Surface models, cut and fill volume statements with method notes, and plans showing the areas.

Instruments we use

Teams work with Leica and Trimble total stations and GNSS receivers, and with Hi-Target GNSS equipment supplied through YAZ, the exclusive Hi-Target agent in Saudi Arabia.

Common questions

How are cut and fill volumes calculated?

Two surfaces, such as existing ground and design level, are compared and the volume between them is calculated and reported as cut and fill.

Can volumes be measured during construction?

Yes. Repeat surveys give progress volumes against the starting surface.
